"The strong word in Euroland is that the boys at +39 have not been paid for several months and many are "resting" elsewhere. They actually broke camp in Valencia earlier than planned (November) because of lack of pay. The sailors said "no tickee, no washee," but the Cup watchers weren't too concerned because that is not the first time the sailors have gone for a long stretch with no pay. The team issued a release saying the quit sailing early because they had achieved all they could with that shitter of an old boat (2000 vintage) ITA-59 which was given to them by Alinghi. But they have a few hidden sources of revenue (more on that later) and most people expect them to make it the the starting line again next year. However beyond 2006 remains to be seen."
